What is a Product File?

Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) is an essential tool for the professional independent retailer, and in order to get the most out of your system, Palmer and Harvey offers a downloadable Product File FREE OF CHARGE to its customers.

What is a product file?

A Product file contains a listing of all the goods on offer through Palmer and Harvey, including bar code, till description, RRP, wholesale price, plus other product related information. Simply, it is an electronic version of the Palmer and Harvey order form that you can download into your EPoS back office system and run through the till, meaning that when you scan a product for sale all of its relevant details appear on screen.

Downloading the Product File ensures that there is no room for human error, as you are not inputting the information manually. It is also a quick and easy solution that allows you to get scanning straight away!

There is a selection of 3 different downloads below to suit your needs, accompanied by a spreadsheet listing of our product types. (The CSV files can be opened and viewed in notepad or WordPad)

Product file updates can now be achieved on one of two ways:-
 

1 Automated product file update

Palmer and Harvey have an existing mechanism in place whereby a product file is available on a daily basis for download. This is accessed by an electronic link (SPEDI) so that a Customer can choose when to refresh the product file within their system. In addition to product files, customers can also choose to place orders with Palmer and Harvey and receive electronic delivery notes on the day of delivery. This facility is currently available to many of our Customers who use a YP Sprint/SiNQUA system or Torex Prism/Prism Plus system and the link can be activated by contacting the relevant EpoS provider.

2 Product file updates using our website

For Customers who currently have an alternative system, the product file can be downloaded from our Website. This can be achieved as follows.


Downloading the product file is easy: right click on the link, save to disk and contact your EPoS provider if you require assistance in loading the file to your system. The product file is available in a number of formats and your EpoS provider will be able to advise you on which format is best suited to their system Palmer and Harvey is constantly looking to expand the service to our Customers using SPEDI to provide electronic downloads that include both product file updates, electronic delivery notes and order capture mechanisms, all of which will save your valuable time. If your EPoS system is not compatible for option 1 above, please ask your provider to email retail.systems@palmerharvey.co.uk to discuss potential options in making your life easier.
