The level of customer care and service provided by Mace has been consistently excellent over the years. It's the personal one-on-one care we get from our rep that makes the service special. We are well-established in the village and have been running an independent store for 20 years, but we joined Mace to push the business further. Our turnover is steadily increasing. With the PREP scheme we are getting rewarded for having products on shelf that we would already be stocking. It's a win-win situation.  The great thing about Mace is the service we get from our rep. I've been with five symbol groups over a long retail career and the Mace rep is the best I have ever dealt with. She gives me great input that has helped me create a really strong offer and improve store layout and since joining Mace, my sales have gone up 10-15%.   I'm also holding less stock because Mace delivers three times a week, whereas I could only get one weekly delivery with my previous symbol group.

I've built a really great relationship with Mace and get excellent service and support. Sales have gone up from £13k to £17k a week since I had a refit nine months ago. We started using planograms which have helped us get the right products in the right place at the right time. We've now got more facings of the best-selling products so we never run out of stock - that's great for sales and makes merchandising the store much easier.   Alcohol sales are up about £900 a week because we're using Mace planograms. Although we've not put in any new lines, we've changed the way we face the fixture so that we get great availability on all the best-selling lines.  I work very closely with Mace to drive sales through the EPoS system. Every three months, my rep and I go to the back office and work out all the best sellers, delist any products not performing so well and replace them with the best new product development.

Mace promotions are brilliant, especially on wine, confectionery and crisps. Customers waiting in line will grab an extra bottle of wine or big bag of confectionery because the gondola ends stand out and attract attention. Customers now come to us for our promotions and have learned that we change them over every three weeks. Some customers will even hover around as we're changing over the gondola end to find out what new deals we've got on.
