Company History: A Retailer's Rough Guide

The P&H Group was founded in 1925 and began life as traditional tobacco and confectionery wholesaler Palmer & Harvey - a shadow of the company it has become today!

P&H has seen massive growth in sales, sustained in the majority by a move from the niche market supply of confectionery and tobacco to a full, comprehensive range of up to 9,000 lines spanning ambient, chilled & frozen and alcohol sectors.

With a current turnover of £3.53billion, the P&H Group has grown through a mixture of internal development and a series of high-profile business acquisitions including alcohol provider Winerite, fascia franchise Mace, EPoS specialist YP Electronics and crisps & snacks van delivery service P&H Snacksdirect. The development of third party drop-shipment scheme ACE has meant that retailers have access to a further 60,000 lines through suppliers covering a whole range of amenities from Bread and Batteries to Sandwiches and Stationery.
